Sustainable Adventure, Reimagined: The Our World Travel Logs Redesign

Project Overview:

When Catherine Riney of Our World Travel Logs reached out, her vision was clear: a sustainable travel blog that reflects her values, supports eco-friendly choices, and invites travelers to explore her curated travel logs. The project required a full redesign in an older version of Wix Editor, initiated in early 2024, with the goal of creating a user-friendly, visually engaging website that effectively communicates her mission.
From Vision to Reality
The original site needed a complete restructuring, from an updated landing page to smoother navigation and improved SEO. We crafted a homepage that pulls users in with highlights from key sections, making it easy to explore travel logs, blog articles, and sustainable travel tips in one cohesive flow.
Creative Enhancements and Technical Execution
Responsive Design: Ensuring optimal viewing across devices, the site was designed for mobile responsiveness—a key feature to keep travelers and eco-conscious readers engaged on-the-go.
Integrated Shopping: We embedded the Etsy shop for travel logs directly within the site. This integration encourages users to stay longer, optimizing for searches related to eco-friendly travel products.
Improved Navigation and Visuals: Balanced typography, strategic color choices, and enhanced sectioning highlighted the main products and travel content, improving overall user experience.
The Wix Editor vs. Wix Studio

Advantage
Using an older version of Wix Editor for this project brought specific limitations in design flexibility. Wix Studio—which offers more animation, customized settings, and flexibility similar to Figma—would have allowed greater creative control, but a direct transfer was not possible without a full rebuild.
Despite some limitations still present in Wix Studio, it’s a powerful upgrade, and I look forward to exploring it further as it develops.
Project Goals and KPIs
Our primary goals included
Increased Traffic through optimized SEO and content layout.
Enhanced User Engagement with interactive elements and visuals.
Higher Conversion Rates by simplifying the purchase journey and showcasing sustainable products.
Although the redesign was guided by these metrics, the client took over the project to implement additional changes independently. As a result, the final site may vary from my original concepts.
Ongoing Analysis and Adjustments
With the site live, key metrics like traffic, bounce rates, and conversion rates will be essential for tracking success. Collecting user feedback and making iterative updates based on the data is crucial for keeping the site competitive and user-friendly.
Conclusion
This redesign marked a significant step in elevating the site’s user experience and positioning Our World Travel Logs within the eco-friendly travel niche.
While the final version differs from the initial design, it lays a solid foundation for growth, engagement, and conversion.
